AMD Radeon RX 580 2048SP and RX 590: the company prepares at least 2 new cards

AMD has begun to sell, on the Chinese market, its AMD Radeon RX 570 graphics cards as the AMD Radeon RX 580 2048SP model. This movement of the company, the less curious, coincides with the recent appearance of the first benchmark of a new graphic card with his signature, which we assume is the next AMD Radeon RX 590.

The issue is that the new AMD Radeon RX 580 2048SP graphics card actually, internally, is still an AMD Radeon RX 570. All the internal specifications of this new model are identical to those of the current RX 570 in the western market.. Except that, its boost frequency, is slightly higher than the reference model of AMD Radeon (40 MHz, to be exact). Anyway, it is already known by all that the RX 570 graphics cards are manufactured from defective cores of the RX 580, which are binarized before being processed and sold to graphic card assemblers.

Of course, the name “AMD Radeon RX 580” is much more attractive, in the eyes of customers, than the RX 570 when it comes to selling graphics cards. But, then, AMD Radeon should rename its entire catalog, eliminating any reference to the RX 570, if the logic were followed at the time of naming these new models.

At the same time that we have seen the previous news, the first results of a benchmark that could be one of the new AMD Radeon RX 590 graphics cards have been leaked. These new graphics cards would be manufactured in the 12 nm node (the current Radeon RX 500 are all manufactured at the 14 nm node). Which, surely, is going to provide them with more space for the core frequencies to go up. In fact, the frequency for your GPU shown in the filtered benchmark is 1,545 MHz, which is higher than the 1,340 MHz used by the AMD reference model of the RX 580.

Even so, the fact that the user that has filtered the capture is TUM_APISAK, gives it a lot of credibility. Therefore, this would confirm that AMD has already prepared the new Radeon RX 500 (or RX 600) graphics cards to renew its current mid-range graphics, which have been on the market for almost two years without touching. It seems that, until AMD Navi does not reach the market, these graphics will be responsible for defending the brand’s pavilion against the upcoming NVIDIA GeForce GTX 2060, which will form the range of green manufacturer input mean.
