MSI X299M Gaming Pro AC: MSI brings the benefits of the X299 chipset to the micro ATX plate format

MSI X299M Gaming Pro AC review (3)

MSI , one of the world leaders in the design and manufacture of high performance motherboards, wants to bring the multiple benefits of the Intel X299 chipset to the user segment that moves with the micro ATX format . And for it has developed the new MSI X299M Gaming Pro AC . Based on its similar name model but in ATX format. Built around the new LGA 2066 socket that Intel has recently introduced. Designed primarily for the new Core iX processors. The new MSI X299M Gaming Pro AC is designed. So your users can get the most out of the 10, 12, 14, 16 and 18 cores that Intel has released (or is about to release). And to do so has put together the X299 chipset with a lot of high-performance technologies. Thus, for example, the new motherboard can support up to 16 GB of Intel Optane memory . Eight of them on each of the two M.2 ports that have the motherboard. In fact, to improve the cooling of these devices, MSI has included a pair of shields M.2 Shield . They allow NVMe devices to connect to the M ports.

The X299 chipset also includes drivers for WiFI and the MSI board has it enabled. In case you did not know (although I think I mentioned before), the chipset X299 has integrated a WiFi controller by the hand of Intel itself. Another thing is that the motherboard manufacturers want to use it and activate it. That for the moment seems to be that few are encouraged to do so. Fortunately, MSI has been encouraged to do so and the X299M Gaming Pro AC comes, among its accessories, with two individual antennas for WiFi Dual Band AC.

As for food. MSI has done well. Since, apart from the 24-pin main connector, the board has an extra 8-pin connector for the processor. Plus an extra 6 pin PCIe connector near the first PCIe x16 slot on the board. The storage theme is also well resolved, since the board has the mentioned M.2 slots, plus a total of 8 SATA 3 ports. Not to mention, apart from the 6 USB 3.0 ports (4 on the back panel ) Plus 6 USB 2.0 (2 of them on the back panel). MSI has not given data on when it will start selling and the price of the MSI X299M Gaming Pro AC.
