Raspberry Pi 3 Model A+ vs Model B+ comparison

Raspberry Pi 3 Model A vs Model B

The Raspberry Pi foundation has just presented its new mini computer model: the Raspberry Pi 3 Model A+. This new mini computer takes over from the original A+ model that was launched on the market four years ago, as a cheaper alternative to the Pi 1 model, maintaining the same external dimensions as this one, but providing all the power that the Raspberry Pi model brings 3 Model B+ to the market.

The Raspberry Pi mini computer has an authentic legion of followers, thanks in part to the immense possibilities of doing electronic projects with it (such as turning it into a fully functional laptop ), as well as the enormous amount of accessories that can be placed on it. ( external casings, surveillance cameras, etc). Although, it is clear that an important part of its great success lies in the reduced cost and size of these mini computers. Since for only $ 35 a user can get the latest model.

Now, Raspberry has released an even smaller model in terms of dimensions and price: the Raspberry Pi 3 Model A+. This new model wants to keep most of the features that make the Pi 3 Model B+ model so popular among its users, but without certain components, to lower its price even more.

The technical specifications of the new Raspberry Pi 3 Model A+ are the following:

CPU : Broadcom BCM28370B0 Cortex-A53 64 bits.
RAM : 512 MB LPDDR2.
WiFi : 802.11 b / g / n / ac dual band (2.4 and 5 GHz) and Bluetooth 4.2.
USB : 1 USB 2.0 port.
Extended GPIO.
CSI port to connect camera.
DSI port to connect touch screen.
Audio and composite video output.
SD port to record data and run the operating system.
Current input of 5 V and 2.5 A.

The specifications of the model Pi 3 Model B+ are practically identical to those of this new Model A+, except that:

The amount of RAM has been reduced by half.
The number of USB ports has gone from 4 to 1 in the new model.
The new model lacks an RJ45 port for cable network functions.
The size is somewhat smaller.

Thanks to these modifications, Raspberry Pi has managed to reduce the sale price by 10 dollars, leaving only 25 dollars. Of course, this price only allows you to access what is the card itself, having to supply us also the power adapter and SD card where we have to record the operating system of our choice. Even so, such a small price for a computer that is fully functional, is the perfect opportunity for those users who like to do DIY-type things in electronics with the Raspberry Pi.
