Nokia Lumia 720 review: first look

Nokia Lumia 720 review: first look

At the MWC 2013 in Barcelona, a new Nokia Lumia 720 smartphone was revealed running on Windows Phone. The gadget is the "little brother" of the Lumia 820, and in this article we will consider the main features of the device.

It has Nokia Lumia 720 smartphone

We really liked the Nokia Lumia 820, but we must admit that the Lumia 720 is also good. It's thinner and lighter, but with a stronger battery, it also received a beautiful 4.3-inch WVGA display and an improved camera. The screen is made using Nokia ClearBlack technology with wide viewing angles and is protected by Gorilla Glass2. The pixel density is 217 ppi, which is very low, but it's hard to expect more from a cheap smartphone. The screen is capable of perceiving the touch of the nails and fingers in the gloves.

Now let's take a look at the 6.7 megapixel camera. His resolution may seem strange at first glance. Here are some examples of photos:

Nokia Lumia 720 uses a Carl Zeiss lens and has a fast f / 1.9 aperture, which is better for low-light shooting. There is no optical stabilization, unlike the Lumia 920, but the Finnish company promises good quality images when working in low light conditions. This is achieved by the "intelligent" image processing methods.

Nokia has included exclusive Cinemagraph lenses (it creates animated GIFs), Smart Shoot (Scalado technology) and the new Glam Me, which can be used for portrait photography with a 1.3 megapixel front camera.

The rear panel of the Lumia 720 is pleasant to the touch, it can be changed, as in the Lumia 820. The housing is made of polycarbonate.

The gadget has a 2000 mAh battery, which is 350 mAh more than the Lumia 820.

The device, as I said, works on Windows Phone 8 with exclusive applications from Nokia. There are maps and Nokia Mix Radio.

Nokia Lumia 720 is based on the 2-core Krait processor with a clock frequency of 1 GHz, Adreno 305 GPU and 512 MB RAM. The interface runs smoothly, the graphics accelerator is close to the Adreno 225, but it has more potential. Thus, the chipset brings the new product in performance closer to the Lumia 820 and 920, as well as other WP8 smartphones.

The device offers 8 GB of internal memory, which can be expanded using microSD cards.

The thickness of the device is only 9 mm, and the weight – 128 g. For example, the Lumia 820 weighed up to 160 grams.

In a full review, we will talk more about Nokia Lumia 720 specifications as well as testing the performance.
