The Japanese manufacturer unveiled the new Sony Xperia Tablet Z at the MWC 2013 held in Barcelona. The gadget will have two changes – only Wi-Fi and support for LTE networks. Both versions will be available to users by the end of this quarter. Earlier, Xperia Tablet Z was announced only for Japan. So, in our mini-review we will consider the main features of the device.
Features of the Sony Xperia Tablet Z smartphone
Sony Xperia Tablet Z is probably one of the highlights of the exhibition.
The novelty uses the same design as the Xperia Z flagship. Of course, the tablet is much larger. It has a 10.1-inch LED backlit screen with a resolution of 1920 × 1200 pixels, and has also approved certification of compliance with IP57 standards for protection against moisture and dust. In our opinion, this screen has a better contrast and viewing angle than the Sony Xperia Z. Maybe the quality improvement is due to LED lighting.
The thickness of the device is only 6.9 mm, and the weight is 495 grams. In the hands of Xperia Table Z is very good, the built quality is top.
The tablet runs on the same Snapdragon S4 Pro chipset as the flagship smartphone of the Japanese company, but it comes with an 8.1 megapixel rear camera that can record videos in Full HD, and HDR is available as for photos. So for the video. There is also a 2.2 megapixel front camera that can capture video with a resolution of 1920 × 1080 pixels.
Other specifications include 16 GB of internal memory, a microSD card slot, 2 GB of RAM and the ability to connect to LTE networks (depending on version).
The gadget will be available in black and white. The back uses matt plastic, which is very resistant to fingerprints, as opposed to the Xperia Z glass.
I also made some landmarks. The tablet's performance proved to be very similar to the pilot smartphone with slight differences due to the higher screen resolution.
This concludes our first acquaintance with the Sony Xperia Tablet Z. We will publish a more detailed review in the near future.
