Gigabyte Aorus Z370 Motherboard supports Intel Coffee Lake platform
The first images of the of Gigabyte Aorus Z370 motherboard are now available. It is clear at this point that Intel’s new Coffee Lake platform is really of interest to users. More than anything because they want to see how these 6 cores and their corresponding 6 and / or 12 process threads develop. Especially against your competition from AMD. Because right now the competition is fierce on desktop processors. So, for example, the three boards have three PCIe x16 slots. Although most likely the last of them is actually an x4 electrically. Even so, compatibility with multi GPU configurations is ensured by the other two PCIe x16 slots. What you can not know at the moment is what standard configuration will support. The logical thing would be to think that, at a minimum, they will support Crossfire as all Intel chipsets have done for years.
Looking at the photos, what stands out is that all models have two M.2 ports included. Although it seems that the one located between the PCIe x16 slots 2 and 3 is not of maximum length. Therefore, it could be rather a relegated port to be used with a WiFi card that uses that standard of connection.
As for the powering of the Gigabyte Aorus Z370 boards, there seems to be nothing remarkable in this aspect. All boards use an 8-pin connector for EPS + 12V power to the processor. Along with the traditional 24-pin connector of the board’s general power.
As for storage, all models of boards use a minimum of 4 SATA ports that can be seen in the photos. And I say 4 and not 6 because in Ultra Gaming I can only locate 4 of these ports. On the other hand, I am convinced that the plate must have 6 of these. It would be very rare that in such a high range would be cut into SATA ports. via videocardz
