Seagate 10TB Barracuda Pro, Iron Wolf, SkyHawk Hard Disk specs overview

Seagate has announced the inclusion of three new hard drives with capacity of 10 TB in its catalog. Under the Guardian family, these new disks are part of the series Barracuda Pro, Iron Wolf and SkyHawk , all consumer – oriented (finally) but each with a different purpose.

We started talking about the Barracuda Pro. These drives are the most common because they are designed for use in desktop computers. They formatted 3.5-inch and SATA 3 interface, and are able to provide theoretical speeds of reading and writing up to 220 MB / s. Their plates spin at 7200 RPM and have 256 MB of cache memory. Seagate gives them a five-year warranty directly with them.

For its part, the Seagate IronWolf are oriented to use 24 × 7 on NAS devices. His theoretical speed is reduced to 210 MB / s and your warranty just three years. Like previous, formatted 3.5-inch and SATA 3 interface, have 256MB of cache and their plates rotate at a speed of 7200 RPM.

Finally we have the SkyHawk Seagate. These disks, like previous ones, are 3.5 inch and SATA 3, but the manufacturer has not released specific information on them yet as they hit the market later. They are designed for use in monitoring systems, which will also be lit 24 × 7 but will be used with video files usually large.

The Barracuda Pro series is available in capacities of 6, 8 and 10 TB, and the latter is now available on the manufacturer’s website at a price of $ 535 plus VAT. IronWolf Seagate NAS series is also now available in capacities of 1, 2, 3, 4 and 10 TB, the latter with a price of $ 470 plus tax. As indicated earlier, the SkyHawk series is not yet available, but Seagate has already said that the 10TB model will be priced at $ 460 plus tax.
