Over the weekend there was a furore over this on social media platforms, after the difficulty was introduced to mild by a Reddit consumer.
The firm has additional urged that the wording of the policy was an error.
As the difficulty started to blow huge, Airtel understood that it wanted to be extra forthcoming in its clarification. And right now, it put out an announcement to the media, saying: “We emphatically confirm that we do not collect any personal information relating to genetic data, religious or political beliefs, health or sexual orientation, etc.”
It added: “The generic content of the definitions of what constitutes personal data as laid down by the IT Act are expansive, which had been inadvertently put on to our website. This was a clerical error.”
Airtel says “personal Information which may include but be not limited to password and financial information (details of Bank account, credit card, debit card, or other payment instrument details), for providing our products, services and for use of our website. We may also hold information related to your utilization of our services which may include your call details, your browsing history on our website, location details and additional information provided by you while using our services.”
The assertion says Airtel acquires consent by means of numerous means akin to writing, on-line, click-throughs, orally, and even by means of its phrases and situations that customers signal whereas becoming a member of its community service.
