The Chinese company at CES 2013 in Las Vegas unveiled the new smartphone pilot ZTE Grand S, which is very similar to the Nubia Z5. The main differences are a less capable battery, such as a small thickness charge and increased processor frequency. In our mini review, we will pay attention to the main features of the new product.
- 1 appearance
- 2 Performance and software
- 3 display
- 4 camera
- 5 battery
- 6 the cost
So let's start with the appearance of the ZTE Grand S. The gadget looks very attractive, there are no side frames around the screen, which makes it very elegant. The case is made using Unibody technology.
Almost the entire front surface is occupied by a display, under which are white-light touch control buttons, above which is a front camera, touch sensors, a speaker and a company logo. On the back you can see the camera, the LED flash, the slots for an external speaker and the company logo. On the left side there is a SIM card slot, on the right there is a microSD card slot and a volume control key, at the bottom is a microUSB connector, at the top there is a start / lock button and a jack for headphones.
The phone is very convenient to hold and use, the case is soft-touch plastic which is pleasant to the touch.
The assembly of the device was excellent: there were no crashes or turns.
The dimensions of the device are 142x69x6.9 mm and the weight is 110 g. Thus, the device has become the thinnest of the known smartphones.
Performance and software
Inside the ZTE Grand S is a Qualcomm Snapdragon S4 Pro APQ8064 Krait quad-core processor with a clock rate of 1.7 GHz, an Adreno 320 graphics accelerator and 2 GB RAM. These features, except for frequency (1.5 GHz), are identical to the ZTE Nubia Z5. In general, like other flagship devices, the smartphone has proven to be quite powerful, productive and at good speed. It easily copes with modern games and applications.
The internal memory in the gadget is 16 GB. If that doesn't seem to be enough, then you can use microSD cards.
Operating System – Android 4.1 Jelly Bean.
Among the communication features, we note the following: support for Wi-Fi, Bluetooth 4.0, NFC, GPS / A-GPS, 3G and LTE networks.
The pre-installed program includes everything you need: a browser, an e-mail client, social media integration programs, audio and video players, other applications and games.
The ZTE Grand S is equipped with a 5-inch IPS display with a resolution of 1920 × 1080 pixels and 16.7 million color reproduction. The image quality is wonderful: excellent contrast, good color reproduction and viewing angles. Overall, the screen is at the level of the best flagship devices.
The ZTE Grand S, like the Nubia Z5, uses a 13-megapixel main camera with LED flash and autofocus. It is capable of taking photos with a maximum resolution of 4208×3120 pixels and recording videos in Full HD. The images come out very well: the smallest details, the natural colors, the good quality photos in the dark are distinct.
The gadget also has a 2 megapixel front camera for video communication.
Now let's move on to the worst point of the smartphone – the battery. Its capacity is only 1780 mAh, which is much smaller than in the Nubia Z5 (2300 mAh). A single battery charge takes about 3 hours to watch high-definition videos with maximum screen brightness, for 4 hours of surfing the internet over Wi-Fi.
But reducing battery capacity is the price to make the phone ultra-slim.
The price of ZTE Grand S has not been announced yet, but based on the features, we can say that the smartphone will cost about 17 thousand rubles.
