You can immediately remind Redmi Note 7, then Redmi Note 8, which received NFC. The range of Mi 9 flagships has been filled with a very large number of smartphones: Mi 9 SE compact, Mi 9T without frame, with a front camera and other models. With the number of flagships in 2019, Xiaomi can compete with Samsung, and this despite the fact that I haven't seen the fourth Mi MIX yet.

Today, in our test, Xiaomi Mi Note 10 is the first smartphone with 108 megapixel sensor resolution. And if you add the resolutions of the six cameras, you get 179 megapixels! Looks like we need to talk …

Such a record is the result of a collaboration between a Chinese brand and a Korean Samsung. This is a division of ISOCELL, which has been developing sensors for mobile cameras for several years. As part of a "closed" and probably exclusive cooperation, the Samsung ISOCELL Bright HMX sensor announced in August was displayed in a teaser on Xiaomi social networks. Then came the Xiaomi Mi CC9 Pro and its global version of the Xiaomi Mi Note 10. Speaking of exclusivity: it is not known if it is temporary or if Xiaomi has a white card for this sensor.

Samsung ISOCELL Bright HMX, in addition to the 108 megapixel resolution, is noted for its physical size: 9.6 × 7.2 mm (1/6 ″). The sensor uses Tetracell Tech technology, which allows you to make 27 megapixel images. Here we use super pixels consisting of 4 pixels.

Before us is not only a record number of megapixels, but also one of the largest sensors in the industry:

  • HUAWEI P20 Pro, HUAWEI P30 Pro – 1 / 1.7 ″;
  • Nokia Lumia 1020 – 1 / 1.5 ″;
  • Xiaomi Mi Note 10 – 1 / 1.33 ″;
  • Nokia 808 PureView – 1 / 1.2 ″.

If you don't remember the conceptual devices that haven't yet become serial (we are talking mainly about the Panasonic CM-1 with sensor), then the legendary Nokia 808 PureView is still at the forefront. But Xiaomi is ahead of today's leader HUAWEI P30 Pro.

There are five cameras on the back of the Xiaomi Mi Note 10:

  • 108 megapixel main camera with a system of 7 optical elements (an eighth additional optical element is installed in Mi Note 10 Pro). The equivalent focal length of the lens is 24 mm, and the aperture is F1.7. There is a phase autofocus system and a laser rangefinder, there is optical image stabilization.
  • 12 megapixel camera, responsible for dual optical zoom, with an aperture of F2.0. The sensor size is 1 / 2.55 ″. There is a Dual Pixel PDAF phase detection autofocus and a laser rangefinder.

It is worth mentioning separately about the flash, because there are two "licorice" at the same time: classic and with an additional white speaker. They are individually activated in flash settings and only operate in constant light. In "pulsed" light mode, an ordinary LED flash works.

The front camera is located in the teardrop neckline. Its resolution is 32 megapixels, and the aperture is F2.0.

This is a landmark smartphone because 108 megapixels is a serious figure. However, we understand that the point is not the number of pixels, but the overall quality of the footage. Therefore, they took a smartphone and went on a photo hunt, because, judging by the camera configuration, it should become the universal weapon of a mobile journalist.

In the afternoon, I used my smartphone to the fullest, constantly switching between cameras. By default, it is recorded at a resolution of 27 megapixels (4512 × 6016), but sometimes you can switch to 108 megapixels mode to feel the full power of the device. Image size at maximum resolution is 12032 × 9024.

Shooting at a resolution of 108 megapixels is better during the day in good lighting conditions. The operation of all the rooms during the day can be described as safe: accurate color reproduction, high details, the correct white balance and a relatively low level of overload even at 100% harvest. We will criticize if five times the optical zoom is not enough, but not because of the quality, but because of the resolution: another 5 megapixel sensor, the image of which rises up to 8 megapixels (3264 × 2448 pixels), is not enough. .

By the way, in the settings there is an article "Right wide angle distortion". However, several times the automation went crazy and, when filmed in a spherical chamber, he tried to straighten the rounded lines. It turned out to be something like a boa constrictor swallowing an elephant in Little Prince. It's good that the camera saves both options.

In rooms with artificial lighting, the Xiaomi Mi Note 10 camera becomes visibly more complicated. Autofocus does an excellent job, color reproduction and white balance remain high, but details drop slightly, and algorithms start to work more actively. As a result, the re-emphasis of harvests one hundred percent becomes more visible. Worst, in our opinion, is an ultra-wide-angle camera that begins to lose the image details at the edges of the frame.

In the rooms I tried a macro camera (an image with an artificial icicle above) and a portrait mode and I was pleased with the result. We were pleased with the wide picture adjustment capabilities: turning on / off beauty, lighting settings (seven options), and simulating an open / closed aperture. It's time to switch to low light conditions where your smartphone feels great, as it turned out! Xiaomi Mi Note 10 has a night mode, but the camera takes pictures without it very well. In night mode, exposure is slightly aligned, especially in dark areas, but in our opinion, the result is even more interesting in automatic mode. Xiaomi can be contested here as the night mode is only available for the main camera and dual optical zoom.

Image quality in the dark is high: accurate white balance and focus, natural colors, no light from light sources (keep optics clean to avoid glare). The worst-case scenario is presented by an ultra-wide-angle camera, where details are lost, and the image is slightly cleansed due to the lack of optical image stabilization and a 5-fold 5-megapixel zoom camera (mainly due to extrapolation). , 50% harvest is quite good).

To the delight of advanced users, Xiaomi Mi Note 10 has a "Pro" mode with manual settings. In it you can shoot in full resolution or RAW format, and you can also switch between five cameras, which is not typical for a smartphone. A rare feature is the ability to change focus on an ultra wide angle camera. By the way, there is a photo above taken too wide in manual mode.

In post-processing, files behave obediently, you can add 1.5-2 exposure levels, noise reduction works well.

In just a few years, Xiaomi has managed to become a serious player in the smartphone market, including removing the camera from the device. We remember how we complained about Xiaomi Mi MIX 2S a year and a half ago, but here we have almost nothing to say. The configuration of the rooms is perhaps the most interesting for today, the quality is high. And all of this is loaded into a fancy 108-megapixel marketing story, which the masses don't need, but attract attention.

However, not a single room! Here's one of the best AMOLED displays I've seen, color rendering and contrast are very satisfying. Too bad it's not flat: the curved edges are already boring.

What else is it worth noting? The presence of a 3.5 mm audio jack (a rarity today), a huge 5260 mAh battery, an attractive design, an on-screen fingerprint scanner. There is no top processor here, but the Snapdragon 730G has proven to be quite good, in addition, the Mi Note 10 is cheaper than most flagships on the market, and has an impressive camera and battery capacity. On the other hand, today's users do not need flagship capabilities, and this has already been proven by more than one smartphone with the sixth and seventh Snapdragon series.

There are few disadvantages of the smartphone and all are subjective: not everyone likes the curved edges of the above-mentioned display, the glossy body quickly takes fingerprints, the right finger of the finger often reaches the goal of an ultra-wide-angle camera and also does not we liked the vibration feedback. You can get used to anything, but you can forgive something for the sake of a pleasant price.

The camera is universal, this model is a photographer's dream. Zoom up to 50x! Safe work in almost all shooting modes and scenarios makes Xiaomi Mi Note 10 one of the leading camera phones for today.
